The 987M is the only gas furnace in the Evolution Series offering an Electronically commutated motor, or (ECM), which offers:

• better control of temperature, humidity and air flow
• uses 66% less electricity than a single speed furnace
• insures quiter operation as it slowly increases fan speed
• helps clean your air as it continues to circulate air when not heating (Fan mode: On)

Models 986T and 315A also offer the benefits of a variable speed fan with efficient 2-stage heating, in which the 1st stage runs at around 65% efficiency most of the time, automatically providing addition 2-stage heat on colder days in order to maintain the same quet, efficient comfort.
